The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Friday that Ottawa BlackJacks forward, Thomas Scrubb, was named to the All-CEBL First team in a vote of the league’s coaches, general managers and media covering the Summer Series. Scrubb was named alongside CEBL champions, Xavier Moon, Jordan Baker, and Travis Daniels of the Edmonton Stingers, and Jean-Victor Mukama of the Hamilton Honey Badgers.
Scrubb, who was also a finalist for the 2020 CEBL Canadian Player Of The Year Award, averaged 15.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 28.6 minutes in eight games during the CEBL Summer Series. He led the team in points and rebounds and ranked second in steals for the BlackJacks.
During the campaign prior to the CEBL Summer Series, Scrubb played 38 games with Strasbourg in two different leagues, including France-Jeep Elite ProA and Champions League, where he averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 27.4 minutes. The Vancouver native recently signed with JL Bourg of the Jeep Elite league in France for the 2020-21 Fall/Winter season. Scrubb attended Carleton University where he captured five National Championships, earned the CIS (U SPORTS) Defensive Player of the Year award twice and was a CIS tournament All-Star on three occasions.

The CEBL Summer Series tipped off July 25 and became the first professional sports league in Canada to return to play since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in mid-March shut down sports across the country. The Edmonton Stingers, who knocked off the BlackJacks in the Summer Series semifinals, raised the 2020 CEBL championship trophy after defeating the Fraser Valley Bandits in the title game. The final three contests were televised live nationally on CBC, the CBC Gem App and CBCSports.ca. The championship game was also available to more than 130 million viewers internationally thanks to distribution agreements secured in Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan by MEDIAPRO Canada, the international media rights and production partner of the CEBL. All Summer Series games were also live streamed on Twitch.
